AU: In which Bryan and David take their son Blaine out for dinner and try to set him up with the cute waiter.
“Didn’t you say you came here just last week with your friend Tina?” asks David. “The food here must be good seeing how strongly you insisted on coming back.”
“Yeah,” says Blaine, glancing around the restaurant distractedly. “I guess.”
“What’s wrong with you?” asks Bryan. He narrows his eyebrows. “Oh my God, did you spot someone famous here? Is that why you wanted to come back so badly?”
“Dad, don’t be ridic-“
“Are you three ready to order?”
Bryan and David both look up, as Blaine busies himself with the menu. The boy who had just come their table is tall and lean, with a golden streaked quiff poking out from under his hat.
“Yes please,” says Bryan, pausing to read the name badge on the boy’s chest, “Kurt, I am starving.” He looks down at the open menu in front of him. “Could I get the lasagna, but hold back on the cheese?”
“Of course,” says Kurt with a smile, scribbling down the order
“A medium rare steak for me, thanks,” says David with a smile, handing over his menu. “Blaine, what do you want?”
Blaine glances up to meet Kurt’s eyes. There’s a flash of recognition there, before Kurt gives Blaine a smile. Blaine simply blushes in response, looking back at the menu.
“I’ll have the, uh,” Blaine’s suddenly lost, looking through the menu in search of something, anything, to order. Wait, how did he end up on the drinks page?
“Blaine, you’re keeping poor Kurt waiting,” urges Bryan. He turns to Kurt. “I’m sorry about this, he usually knows exactly what to order. You know, teenagers these days.”
“Of course,” says Kurt with a friendly smile.
“Blaine, why don’t you just order what you had last time,” says David gently.
“So, the tomato and basil fettuccine?” asks Kurt, looking at Blaine expectantly.
Blaine simply blinks. Kurt seems to realise what he’s said, because his cheeks turn rosy as he looks down at the notepad in front of him. Bryan looks from Kurt to Blaine and can’t help but grin. Internally, Blaine’s praying that he doesn’t say anything.
To Blaine’s surprise, it’s David that speak up.
“What an amazing memory you have,” is all he says, though there’s a slight tease in his voice.
“Yeah, the fetuccine sounds great,” says Blaine, handing over his menu with a smile. He’s sure his face is flaming.
“I’ll be right back with your order,” says Kurt, avoiding Blaine’s gaze as he takes the menu and hurries away.
As soon as Blaine leaves, Bryan’s suddenly serious
“Don’t think I missed that look on your face right now,” he says, straight-faced. ”It’s obvious that you think that guy’s cute. Isn’t it, David?”
Blaine can’t help but smile as his other dad, reluctantly, agrees.
“And that feeling appears to be mutual,” says David quietly, eyes fixed somewhere behind Blaine.
Blaine turns around to see Kurt gazing across at him, before turning away at meeting Blaine’s gaze.
“You should go ask for his number,” encourages David. “We’ll just pretend not to be here.”
Blaine laughs, shaking his head at his parents’ constant attempts to set him up. But this time, for once, he takes their advice. With an ‘excuse me’, as if he were simply leaving to go to the bathroom, he stands and heads towards Kurt.
“Oh, look at that,” says Bryan proudly, watching as a huge smile spread across Kurt’s face. “Our boy’s all grown up.”
David took Bryan’s hand in his.
“He sure is.”

“No, Kurt, like this —” Blaine drops his hands and giggles as Kurt skips to the right in the kitchen and side-swings at Blaine, punching him lightly in the stomach. ”Come on, you have to hit me for it to actually… you know, do something.”
“But I don’t want to hit you!” Kurt pouts and lets his arms hang at his side again.
Blaine holds up his fists in front of his face. “You won’t hurt me or anything. I can take it.”
Kurt didn’t do it on purpose. Blaine knows he didn’t. But as he stares at the pink corsage in his boyfriend’s hands he feels all breath leave him.
“A pink corsage, Derek? Are you sure it’s a good idea? I mean, we’re already going to the dance together-”
“Why not? It matches your tie! And who cares what they’ll think? I saw go big or go home!”
Blaine could remember so clearly, as if it were yesterday. He could remember sitting on his bed, all alone, clutching the corsage tight in his hand. He remembered the way Derek looked as he pinned it to Blaine’s jacket. And he remembered the way Derek looked as his head cracked open on the pavement.
Blaine blinked rapidly at the corsage in Kurt’s hand. Suddenly it wasn’t Derek crashing to the concrete, it was Kurt. Suddenly Kurt was the one bleeding to death beside Blaine. Suddenly Kurt was the one being kicked mercilessly despite the fact he’d passed out long ago. Suddenly Kurt was the one dying at Blaine’s side.
Blaine couldn’t breathe.
He took a step back, out of Kurt’s reach as he moved to pin the flower to Blaine’s lapel. “Blaine?” The teen blinked rapidly, looking to Kurt’s almost hurt expression. “Is everything ok?”
Blaine swallowed convulsively. He couldn’t tell Kurt, he couldn’t scare him. Not when this night meant so much to him.
“No—I mean, yeah.” Blaine forced a shaky smile, “Everything’s fine.” He took a step forward again so Kurt could pin the flower to him. And as the corsage was set in place, as Kurt let go and admired the flower Blaine tried to breathe, tried not to picture that corsage covered in blood, tried not to picture Kurt covered in blood. “Everything’s perfect.”
And when Blaine excused himself to use the rest room he prayed Kurt didn’t hear him throwing up.

CHAPTER 13 IS UP

I JUST WANT TO SMACK BLAINE ON THE HEAD JFC
artistwholosthertouch asked you: Can I prompt something? Kurt or Blaine has a tongue stud and gives the other a blowjob?
author note: this is my attempt at a skank!Kurt/inexperienced!Blaine AU. it’s about 3,500 words. warning for a brief appearance by Sebastian.
“No way,” Kurt says, flicking his cigarette to the ground when he sees the familiar sweater vest and bow tie, the gelled-back hair and bare ankles. No way.
Scandals isn’t a Skanks hangout or anything - Kurt’s the only one who comes here, and it’s more for the underage drinking than the dancing or hooking up with strangers. But the last person he ever expected to see passing off a fake ID and smiling his way into a shitty little gay bar is Blaine fucking Anderson.
There was no grand gesture; no screaming to get out, pack your bags and leave, no I never want to see you again. A quiet gulp by the kitchen table and a slight tilt of Kurt’s head in what should resemble a nod. Blaine biting his lip and looking back one last time, fingers flexing around the strap of his bag before he opened the door and left their apartment.
A hiccuped sob left Kurt’s throat seconds later, breaking the dam leading into nights spent with his face pressed into his pillow to muffle the sound of his heart screaming in his chest, gone with a swipe of a palm over his face come morning. The sun still went up, people were still rude to him on the subway, he still had work to do and things to accomplish, and days turned to weeks turned to months turned to the realization that Blaine leaving him didn’t kill Kurt.
Summary: Blaine Anderson hasn’t been Blaine Anderson for 8 years. He doesn’t remember much about his old family and his life before he moved in with the man he calls his father. Together they move from town to town, always drifting before Blaine can get too familiar with his surroundings. Then one day they end up in Lima, Ohio, and Blaine finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew.
